HEC Grants 6-Month Research Fellowships to PhD Scholars for International Study

 

Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has awarded six-month research fellowships to 156 PhD scholars from the top 200 universities worldwide. The International Research Support Initiative Programme (IRSIP) has distributed a total of 6,545 awards to date, benefiting 79 Pakistani universities. Notably, six scholars will study at the top 10 universities, 44 at the top 50, and 71 at the top 100 universities globally.

During the 53rd award ceremony, HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized the significance of research opportunities at esteemed international universities for doctoral students.

He commended the government's commitment to higher education and encouraged the awardees to leverage the opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to Pakistan's socio-economic development.

HEC Director General Aayesha Ikram congratulated the scholars, urging them to make the most of this first-hand experience and adopt the qualities of a good researcher. She stressed the importance of responsible behavior, work ethics, and interacting with international counterparts to enrich their potential.

Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Capital University of Science and Technology, praised HEC's role in investing in human resource development and emphasized effective time management for scholars.

The IRSIP aims to improve research quality, foster collaborations between Pakistani and foreign institutions, and develop a highly qualified workforce for Pakistan's progress. HEC is proud to showcase Pakistani talent globally, with IRSIP scholars conducting research at renowned universities in the United Kingdom, United States, Europe, and several other countries.
