The Blockade on Gaza Must Be Lifted
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has emphasized the importance of lifting the blockade on the Gaza Strip. He reiterated that the Kingdom has repeatedly warned of the danger of worsening conditions in the region.
During a speech at an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah on Wednesday, he called on the international community to take a responsible stance to protect the Palestinians in Gaza.
He also highlighted the necessity of delivering aid to Gaza to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and stressed the importance of establishing a Palestinian state and implementing international legal resolutions.
He stated that the international community should work towards achieving comprehensive and fair peace in the Middle East.
"Gaza is Facing Genocide"
On the Palestinian side, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki stated that Gaza is experiencing an unprecedented form of genocide. He claimed that Israel had committed a massacre by deliberately targeting a hospital in Gaza, warning the doctors in advance.
He further pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has used the conflict between the "sons of light and darkness" to justify killings.
Al-Maliki revealed that anyone who gave Israel authorization and supported it with weapons is responsible for the bloodshed of Gaza's residents. He disclosed that the Israeli war machine has killed over 1,300 children and displaced one million Palestinians in just one week.
He stressed the international community's indifference in counting the victims in Gaza and emphasized the need to end the aggressive war and the relentless settlement campaign while rejecting a policy of forced displacement.
Solidarity with Palestine
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister echoed similar sentiments, warning against applying double standards in the Palestinian issue. He emphasized Kuwait's commitment to a just and comprehensive peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian stated that the Palestinian people are facing genocide by Israel. He noted that the targeting of the al-Mashtal hospital in Gaza is inconsistent with any logic and affirmed that Palestinian factions cannot target civilians in Gaza.
The Gaza Blockade
Israel has imposed a blockade on the densely populated Gaza Strip since last Saturday, closing all crossings, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid and goods, and cutting off electricity and water supply.
The Israeli government has vowed to "uproot and erase" the Hamas movement from Gaza following the sudden attack launched last Saturday. The death toll in the region has risen to over 3,000 people, with thousands injured, amid dwindling medical supplies in hospitals.
On the Israeli side, the number of casualties is around 1,400, including 220 officers and soldiers.
Saudi Arabia, the current host of the Islamic summit and the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, has called for an urgent extraordinary meeting of the committee at the ministerial level to discuss the military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings, which threatens civilians, regional security, and stability.
